The starting point for my projects always consists of a theoretical, often even philosophical approach: I always ask “Why?” before “How?” and I closely scrutinise whatever I create each day. Because in my line of work in particular it can happen all too easily that you get lost in just pressing keys and having things look “good”. With the result being that there comes a time where everything looks the same.
As a trained film scholar, I have a totally different approach to everything relating to motion design and digital visual effects. Storytelling is, and always has been, the focus of my work while my computer and the various software programmes I use are my tools. For me, artistic synthesis is of the utmost importance because everything is directly related to everything else and influences are exerted mutually. And in the end it makes sense. That’s how I work.
I am a motion designer and visual effects artist based in Hamburg, Germany and see myself as representing a new approach to the creation of computer graphics. I don’t want to be like all the rest. I want to research new areas of digital imaging, connect styles, mix them together and in the end create something completely new. In the motion design and visual effects industry, I truly believe there must once again be more individuality.
